Union OnPrem Insights Releases Its Seasonal Cocktail Data, Which Shows Margaritas Are Number One in Every Season

Austin, TX (March 21, 2023) – In honor of National Cocktail Day (3/24), Union—a data-driven hospitality engagement platform—is sharing new OnPrem Insights data highlighting seasonal cocktail spikes and trends to help drive sales at high-volume bars and restaurants across the US. Union’s research shows cocktail rankings based on share of all 2022 sales at thousands of Union venues across the country. The top five cocktails are as follows:

  1. Margarita
  2. Old Fashioned
  3. Espresso Martini
  4. Moscow Mule 
  5. Long Island Iced Tea

The findings show that Margaritas are by far the most popular cocktail year-round at Union’s high-volume venues. They’re also highly seasonal with an eight percent swing in share between summer and winter. The report also indicates that Old Fashioneds are a true “seasonal stretcher,” as the sales peak during the holiday months and hold steady through March. However, Espresso Martinis are right behind the bourbon classic, with an upswing in September that holds steady through the end of the year. While Moscow Mules and Long Island Iced Teas remain popular, sales show that they also have year-round staying power. The OnPrem Insights report also provides a snapshot of how different cocktails fare over the course of the year in different regions as well as what winter-themed cocktails perform best.
